Located in Stamford, Connecticut, Shanti Bithi Nursery is one of the largest growers and importers of Bonsai in the United States. Since 1978 we have specialized in Bonsai and related plants, offering classes and sponsoring expert lecturers, including well-known Bonsai Masters from around the world. Shanti Bithi has an extensive collection of specimen-quality Bonsai trees, and carries a full line of Bonsai-related items, such as books, tools, pots, fertilizers, bonsai soil, accent plants, and starter plant material. Our on-site services include pruning and shaping, re-wiring, transplanting, winter/vacation storage, and rescue and rehab for struggling Bonsai. Shanti
Bithi Nursery also grows specimen-quality cultivars of rare and unusual Japanese
maples. We loan a selection of our specimens, both Bonsai and full-size Japanese maples,
to the New York Botanical Garden for its annual autumn exhibition. Shanti Bithi Nursery began as a landscape design and construction company, and continues to make a name for itself in that field. For the past 19 years we have designed and built the extraordinary 54-acre Steinhardt Gardens in Bedford, New York. Our Bonsai specialist, Saeko Oshiro, designs small and intimate Asian-style gardens. Shanti Bithi means ‘Path of Peace’ in Bengali. The name was given to the nursery by Indian meditation teacher Sri Chinmoy. Take a late autumn tour of Shanti Bithi beginning in December 2008 on Martha Stewart's blog. And watch for her spring tour of our nursery in May 2009!
We are so proud of our award-winning book published in 2007,
